The Quincunx
A quincunx (also called an inconjunct) is an aspect in astrology that occurs when two planets are approximately 150 degrees apart. This angle places the planets in signs that have little in common—different elements, different modalities, and often conflicting ways of operating. As a result, quincunxes often represent awkwardness, tension, and the need for adjustment.
Whereas major aspects like oppositions or squares highlight visible tension, the quincunx brings more subtle dissonance. The energy between planets involved in a quincunx doesn’t clash directly but creates a nagging sense of something that doesn’t quite fit. In life, this aspect manifests as internal discomfort and a need for compromise and recalibration.
In this in depth PDF, we look at the quincunx, the challenges and the benefits of this aspect, and look at examples for natal charts, as well as romantic and business compatibility.
