Numerology is the study of numbers, and how the vibration of those numbers affects us as humans. The origins of Numerology can be traced back thousands of years to ancient civilizations like Babylon, Egypt, Greece, India, and China. The most popular system is the Western system of Numerology that was created more than 2,500 years ago by Pythagoras, a Greek Philosopher who was also a mathematician.
In numerology, we deal mostly with the single digit numbers 1-9. Every number can be reduced to one of these base numbers.
There are two major parts of your numerology chart. The Lifepath half and the Expression half. The Lifepath half deals with your birthday, Lifepath number and other numbers that relate to life cycles, stages, challenges and instincts.
The Expression half has to do with your name. The name found on your birth certificate is the main source of your expression energy, however, the name we use in everyday life will add an overlay. In the expression half, you can find motivations, how you effect others, extra personality traits, , hidden abilities, family bloodlines, and other numbers linked to how you carry out your life energy.
The core numbers of your chart are…
- Lifepath. (The Sum of your full birthday)
- Birthdate. (The date of your birth.)
- Name Expression. (The numerical sum of your full birth name.)
There are other important parts and numbers, but these 3 main ones can tell you a great deal of info. These numbers are the starting point of all the other numbers in your chart.
Each of the nine base numbers has a particular vibration. This vibration will mean the same no matter where it’s found in your birth chart.
Other numbers
Sometimes, while reducing numbers to their base 1-9, you will come across a double number like 11, 22, 33, 44, and so on. These are called master numbers. Even though they have one of the base numbers, we do not reduce these master numbers. For example, even though 11 would equal 2, 11 is read as a master number, which highlights a different path than a 2. They are related, but the 11 is on the higher level of 2. The same with 22 for 4, 33 for 6, 44 for 8, and so on.
At times, we do deal with a 0 in your number code. The 0 is a mystical number and serves to intensify the vibration on the other number.
The Astrology connection
Numerology is intricately linked to astrology and are associated with different sign and planet vibrations. When you get further into reading your number code and your Astro chart, you will see that they both reflect each other. For example, I am a life path 2 which is symbolized by the moon. You would think that my Sagittarius sun would not reflect the watery moon until you find out that my Sag sun is conjunct Neptune, a water Pisces planet.
How to find your Lifepath number
To find your Life Path Number, reduce the numbers in your birthday to single digits, then add them up. Keep adding until you get a single digit or a double number like 11, 22, 33, 44. Those double numbers are master numbers and do not have to be reduced, no matter where you find them in the reduction process.
Example: March 5, 1984.
March=3
5=5
1984= 1+9+8+4=22.
3+5+22=30
3+0=3.

Example 2: August 14, 1969
August=8
14=1+4=5
1969=1+9+6+9=25. 2+5=7
LP=8+5+7=20. 2+0=2.

How to find your Name Expression number
While there are different ways to turn the letters into numbers, I use the Pythagoras system. Below is the code.
- 1=A J S
- 2= B K T
- 3= C L U
- 4= D M V
- 5= E N W
- 6= F O X
- 7= G P Y
- 8= H Q Z
- 9= I R
It first it may seam hard to memorize, but it actually can be easy. If you notice, some letter combos form words. For example, you see that 6 is FOX. So you know that when you see F or O or X, you know to turn that into a 6. 3 is CLU which is clue without the “E”. See what the other groupings make you think of.
To break down a name into numbers would look like this.
Dennis = 455591 =29=11=2
You can do that for your full name. Just remember to keep the master numbers as is. 11, 22, 33, 44, and so on. Technically, Dennis is not a 2, it would be written as “11/2”.
